Dirk Ludwig's Mom

Last June 24, 2013, my little man was admitted to the hospital due to allergic reaction from Paracetmol. Paracetamol is a pain reliever and a fever reducer. I let Dirk have a dose of it because he had a fever a night before he was admitted. I blame myself of what happened because I never thought that paracetamol can have a bad effect on my son. Who would expect that this kind of medicine that seems to be present on our home will have a bad reaction to my little boy? Rashes were all over his body and the most dangerous effect was my son was having hard time breathing. He was given an oxygen support for 24 hours. All lab tests was done to ensure what is his current condition, aside from the Paracetamol Hypersensitivity, he also had mild pneumonia. Mild pneumonia is a respiratory infection that causes a swelling of the lungs (caused by bacteria) and also known as "walking" pneumonia. I am really worried about this condition of my son. At Dirk’s young age, he is truly having fun watching different shows from different TV channels. In this case, I am very much careful on the shows that he is watching and honestly I can’t really monitor it especially I am working. Our little man is more playful than ever on his phase. He is more confident in his steps but still needs little guidance if he walks on big aisle. He loves to go up and down on our stairs, a very tiring part for me but seeing Dirk’s laughter made it worth it. He also loves to climb on the pile of boxes in our room and pile of pillows in our bed. He loves to play peek – a- boo using the blanket. Every time we go to malls, he is very fascinated with escalators and elevators. In short, we always ride back and forth with the escalators and elevators; causing him to cry every time we go out the elevator or not going back and forth with the escalator. His language skills are growing, he babbles a lot and he tends to understand us when we say something to him. He keeps on staring on our mouth when we talk to him. Our Baby Dirk is now 1 year and 3 months old. I will write a letter for him yearly so that time will come; he will be able to read it and hopefully, will value these letters. Before I welcome the month of June, I would like to thank the month of May for the over flowing blessings my son, my mom and I was able to receive. It’s the 6 th month of the year and there are a lot of reasons to celebrate this month. I am turning 26 on the 26 th As much I wanted but I am not getting any younger. I will turn 26 years old on the 26 th of June. I am very thankful because I am able to reach this age with good health, adorable son, supportive family and stable job. I and my little man really had a very awesome summer this year, we spent it together in our home town in Samboan, Cebu. A 4hrs travel form Cebu City, a peaceful province in southerner Cebu.  What made our summer memorable was it was the first time that Dirk was able to meet his cousins and was able to have a swim in the very clear and clean beach.
